Photographs from Weekend 3
April 28-30, 2000

Photos by Jeanne Starr and Mark Norton.

The Eagle Dance performed at our campfire.
After several incidents of the troop modifying our Patrol Cheer, we gave out small bear skins prepared by Jeanne to each of the other patrols as a momento of the fun we had together.
Our scoutmaster was presented with a Parrot Piñata which he whacked away at with a staff. Shortly after this picture was taken, Boo-boo was the one who got whacked!
Each patrol was presented a spoon decorated with bears to remind the patrols that we can really dish it out.
Mark and Paul discuss the finer points of scouting over lunch. Paul had to make special arrangements to have lunch with us, which we all appreciated greatly.
Paul Cady finds time to meditate on how well the Wood Badge training went.
The results of our nature sample hunt. We were told to collect samples of nature from the immediate area which represented 12 principles.
One of the events on our Saturday hike was a rope maze which we had to traverse blind folded. As PL, Mike led the way.
The Bear Patrol solved the maze in a single pass making record time to the end point shown here.
Another hiking event consisted of pitching an emergency shelter and signaling for help. Mike was serious annoyed that the handbook no longer contains any sort of signalling code, so he drop kicked it down the trail. We probably lost points for that one.
After our hike we arrived at a shelter where we spent the night.
After inspecting the food brought along on the hike, Corky decides that we probably have enough water.
The Bears (Jeanne and Mike) enjoying their favorite food: smoke salmon. Nothing quite like roughing it in the woods after a long day of backpacking, eh?
Mike prepared an authentic Chinese Blueberry Cobbler for the feast.
A team of chefs led by Corky cook up a storm while making Chinese food as the Bear Patrol's contribution to the feast.
A view of the food provided by the bear patrol for the feast before it was devoured. Naturally, we choose a Panda Bear to guard the food until it was ready to be served.
Lots of food was available at the feast. The buffalo patrol prepared, (what else?) buffalo wings!
A view of the food provided by the Troop Quartermasters. The whole spread was impressive to behold.
Our table at the feast was presided over by our mascot, Reggie-bear. Seating was quite crowded, but there was room for everyone.
Jeanne was recognized by Paul Cady as the first person to sign up for Wood Badge NE-1-202.
Paul Cady presents a bear to Jeanne for being first to sign up. It was worth it just for the bear!
The whole troop presented a statuette to Paul Cady for his role as scoutmaster. The presentations at the feast lasted nearly two hours!

Large Bear Patrol patches were presented to Mike, Charlie, and Paul.
